Preparing For Your Visit

Your visit will be an educational day for you. We will keep an open mind, remembering that you may not actually have HPV warts. Many patients who I’ve seen in past have self-diagnosed themselves or been misdiagnosed by a medical provider. I take a medical history, ask questions, and examine a patient before discussing any treatment plan. Below are some of the questions we will ask you during your visit:

  1. What is your sexual history? How many partners have you had recently? Have any of your partners had a positive result upon STD/ HPV testing? What are your symptoms?
  2. What type of treatment have you done so far? This includes self-treatment (cream, oil, other remedies, etc.) or physician treatment (laser, acid , freezing, etc.)

Recommendations to help facilitate a successful appointment:

  1. Trim the hair of the affected area if possible (using a shielded trimmer only; do not use shaving blades).
  2. We prefer that you not be taking NSAIDs at time of your visit (these include ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, naproxen, Aleve) if at all possible. Please call the clinic if you have any questions or concerns regarding this or if it is necessary that you take these medications.
  3. Write all your questions down and make sure all of them are answered. We will spend enough time with you to answer all your questions.
  4. Bring a list of all medications you are taking including blood thinners.
  5. Finally, don’t be discouraged by past failed treatments or undesirable experiences you have had. Instead, be hopeful and positive, knowing you will now be receiving the most effective and up-to-date treatment available.
